Working Together
You’ve poured creativity, expertise, and countless hours into bringing your vision to life. Now, your project deserves to be seen. It deserves to be photographed in a way that allows other people to know what it feels like to be there – to experience what you’ve created.
This is why my work begins with a conversation aimed at understanding the story behind the project. I want to know why an architect chose certain materials for the project, how an interior designer created better flow in that kitchen renovation or how a builder’s craft shines in the details.
Max Planck observed that “when you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.” This quote perfectly captures what happens when we collaborate – your knowledge transforms how I see your work, leading to images that reveal not just what you built, but why it matters.

The Discovery
Where Your Vision Shapes My Perspective
Every photoshoot begins with seeing the project through your eyes first. During our initial conversation or walk-through, I’ll be asking you questions and listening intently as you share the story behind the work. I want to hear about the challenges overcome, the breakthrough moments, the elements of pride, the details that might escape notice. This isn’t just context. For me, this is where the magic begins, as it inspires me to seek out extraordinary compositions.
Some of my clients choose to scout with me in advance, turning the exploration into a collaborative creative session. Others prefer to share their vision and let me explore on my own. Both approaches yield exceptional results because they start from the same place – mutual respect for what you’ve created.
The Shoot
Where Patience Meets Preparation
Working primarily with natural light, we follow the sun’s path through your project, capturing each area at its most compelling moment. The wonderful dance between natural light and shadow doesn’t just illuminate your spaces – it sculpts them, revealing textures and creating depth that makes people pause and feel the space, not just see it.
I’ll also use flash strategically – whether it be to mimic sunlight being blocked by clouds or to ensure colour accuracy. But it’s always in service of accentuating, not replacing, the authentic light that shaped your design decisions.
At the shoot, you’re welcome to be as involved as you wish. Many clients find it energizing to spend the day, exploring compositions together. Others pop in periodically to see progress. Some trust me to work independently after our initial walk-through. There’s no wrong approach – only what feels right for your working style.
The Refinement
Where Craft Meets Art
Like a chef building layers of flavour, my 7-step editing process enhances the image without overwhelming it. Each adjustment is selective and intentional. It might involve brightening a part of the photo, so as to guide the eye through the scene, or enhancing texture to celebrate selected materials, or balancing light to reveal spatial relationships.
This isn’t about making spaces look different than they are. It’s about making them look like they feel when you’re standing there, thus allowing the viewer to experience the culmination of all your design decisions. The magic is in the subtlety – when viewers can’t identify what’s been done, they just know the space feels right.
Rather than simply documenting your work, thoughtful refinement reveals its character.
Examining the Results
Ensuring You Get the Photos You Want
Within a week after our photoshoot, you’ll review “selection proofs” – lightly-edited photos where you decide which ones receive the full editing treatment.
My highly-intuitive proofing page allows you to both comment on the photos, and mark them up to highlight the exact changes you’d like to see. Once you’ve chosen your favourites, I complete the final refinements and deliver fully-edited proofs that will allow you, once again, to review the enhanced images and suggest tweaks.
This process ensures you get photos that allow your work to shine, whether they be for portfolios, publications or awards submissions.
